Choose your door
Everybody who supplies a place starts from the same screen, at /profile/setup, and picks the door that describes them. The door decides what Vallo asks for, because each kind of supplier can go wrong in a different way, and the checks are written against that.
I own the property
List it yourself. No agency fee. The property is mine. I want to let it or sell it myself, with the enquiries coming to me.
What it asks for:
- Your name, phone number and where you live
- A government issued ID, or your NIN
- Whatever you hold on the property, and there is an honest answer if you hold nothing
- A Nigerian bank account in your own name
About five minutes.
I am an agent
You act for owners and charge a fee. I list and let property for other people, and I charge a fee.
What it asks for:
- Your name, phone number and where you live
- A government issued ID, or your NIN
- Proof of your address, dated within three months
- Your fees, in the open, where a tenant can read them
- A Nigerian bank account in your own name
About ten minutes.
We are a registered firm
An agency with staff and a CAC number. I work for, or I run, a registered real estate business.
What it asks for:
- Everything an agent gives us, about you
- The registered name and RC number, as the CAC holds them
- The CAC certificate
- Something showing you work there, unless a colleague here admits you
About fifteen minutes, and less if your firm is already on Vallo.
Hotels, shortlets and restaurants
The Vallo Stays side has its own three doors:
- We are a hotel. Rooms, rates and a front desk.
- I run a shortlet. One place or a few, let by the night.
- We are a restaurant. Tables, hours and a menu.
A hotel or a shortlet sets its rooms, rates and calendar; a restaurant sets its tables, hours and menu. Guests can then reserve, book a table, or message the business from its page.
The verification ladder
A lister climbs the same ladder, one rung at a time, and a listing shows how far its lister has climbed rather than a single word that could mean anything:
- Identity seen. A real person with government identification stands behind this account, and we have seen it.
- Address confirmed. We know where they are, so an agent who disappears is not untraceable.
- Bank account in their own name. Money owed to this agent goes to an account that belongs to them, not to somebody else.
- Met in person. Somebody from Vallo has met this agent or stood in one of their properties.
A person at Vallo decides each rung by hand. The Verified tick appears only once a person here has checked the ID of the lister behind the listing.
Where your application stands
- Not finished. Nothing is submitted until you press the button on the last screen.
- Pending review. A person reads this. You can build listings now; publishing opens when it comes back.
- Not approved. Open it to read why, in full, and to send the missing thing.
- Suspended. Open it to read the reason. Confirmed stays are untouched.
Inspections, and what you may charge
Vallo charges no inspection fee. Viewing a property through Vallo is free. A renter inspects before anything is paid, submits the inspection report, and only then does the agreement go to both of you and to Vallo.
