The steps, in order
Money moves only after you have seen the place and decided. Nothing on this road is paid outside Vallo.
1. View the place
Tap Schedule a visit on the listing, in person or by video. See Viewings. If an owner or agent asks you for a fee to inspect, that is a private arrangement between you and them. It is not a Vallo charge, Vallo does not collect it, and you can report it to us.
2. Submit the inspection report
After the viewing, tick the eight rooms and areas on the inspection report, add notes and photos, and submit it. It records what you saw and when.
3. Confirm the agreement
- The agreement is drawn up from the listing’s own figures and your report, with the move-in date and the day the keys are handed over.
- You and the owner or agent each confirm the same version.
- If anything changes, the version moves and you both confirm again.
- An agent confirming for an owner confirms that they hold the owner’s instruction.
Your agreements are in Agreements.
4. Pay inside Vallo
For rent: For rent and shortlets you choose how to pay: Escrow, which is selected for you, or Pay by card.
- With Escrow, a licensed payment partner holds your payment until the deal is confirmed. Only then is it released to the owner, agent or host.
- With Pay by card, your payment goes to the owner, agent or host through our licensed payment partner as soon as it clears.
For a sale: A sale is always paid through escrow. There is no card option for a sale. This property is for sale. Message the agent to ask questions and arrange an inspection, and have your own solicitor verify the title before any money changes hands.
Every payment for a deal happens inside Vallo. Never pay outside Vallo. A payment made outside Vallo is not covered. See How paying works.
5. Move in
What happens next: your tenancy gets its own page with the agreement, receipts and reports. About a month after you move in, Vallo asks you for a review, starting with whether you paid anyone anything beyond what you paid on Vallo. Your answer to that question is private.
