What the wallet is
Your wallet is a naira balance held against your account. Refunds land here, you can pay for a stay from here in one tap, and you can move money to a Nigerian bank account whenever you want.
The balance is not a number somebody stores and edits. It is derived from a statement of movements that can only be added to, so the figure at the top of the page and the rows underneath it can never disagree with each other. Every amount is held as whole kobo, so nothing is ever lost to rounding.
Adding money
Tap Add money, type the amount in naira, and you are taken to the payment processor to pay by card or bank transfer. When you come back, the credit is posted against a reference beginning rm-fund-.
If the processor tells us before your browser gets back, or your browser gets back before the processor tells us, the credit still posts exactly once. It is keyed on the reference, so whichever arrives first wins and the second changes nothing.
Where crypto top-ups are switched on, you can also fund the wallet through Yellow Card. You type the amount in naira, exactly as you would for a card, and the processor works out what that costs in the coin at the moment you pay. If the control is not on your screen, it is not switched on for your wallet yet.
Withdrawing to your bank
Tap Withdraw, choose your bank, enter the account number and the amount. The account must be a Nigerian account in your own name.
A withdrawal is held while it settles, and the amount is taken out of what you can spend the moment you request it, so money already on its way to your bank can never be spent again on a stay. References begin rm-wd-.
Sending money to another account
Transfer sends money to another Vallo account by email address or phone number. It moves inside the platform, so it is instant and it lands in their wallet. Both sides get a row in their statement, paired on a reference beginning rm-p2p-.
Savings pots
A pot is money you set aside inside your own wallet: name it, give it a target if you want one, and move money in and out whenever you like. Money in a pot has left your spendable balance and is still entirely yours, which is the point: it cannot be spent at checkout by accident, and it is back the moment you move it back.
Pots earn nothing and cost nothing. There is no interest, no yield and no lock-in. Where pots are not switched on yet, the wallet does not draw the section at all.
The limits
The smallest amount you can move in one go is ₦100, and the largest is ₦10,000,000. Those bounds apply to adding money, withdrawing and transferring alike. To move more than the ceiling, split it across more than one movement.
Spendable against settled
The wallet shows what you can actually spend, which is your settled balance minus anything already committed to a withdrawal that has not landed yet. That is the figure checkout uses too, so a stay can never be paid with money that is already on its way to your bank.
The statement
Under the balance is every movement, grouped by day, newest first: what it was, which way it went, how much, and its reference. Every stay you pay for, every refund, every top-up and every withdrawal appears here.
A reference is the thing to quote to support. It is unique, enforced by the database rather than checked in passing, which is what makes a payment traceable rather than merely recorded.
What the platform charges
Nothing. There is no fee to hold a wallet, no fee to add money, no fee to withdraw, no fee to transfer, and no fee to pay for a stay from it.
This is not a line of marketing copy, it is the shape of the ledger. Every settled charge on this platform decomposes into three parts that must add up exactly to what was paid: the agent share, the payment processor charge, and the platform share. The platform share is zero, and the database refuses a row where the three parts do not balance.
A card processor may charge for moving money. Where that happens it is labelled as the processor charge, because it belongs to them and not to us. Nobody at Vallo will ever ask you for a fee of any other kind.
