Booking a stay

A hotel room. Pick the room and the rate. A hotel room is paid by card when you book, at the price shown. The booking is confirmed when the payment clears.

A shortlet or serviced apartment. Reserve your dates. The nights are held for you for 48 hours at no cost. A listing marked Instant book can be paid at once. Otherwise the host accepts or declines first, and you are told which.

Paying. For rent and shortlets you choose how to pay: Escrow, which is selected for you, or Pay by card. See How paying works.

• The nightly rate times the nights, written out.
• Cleaning, only if the host charges it.
• Any charge at the door, such as a caution deposit, power, cleaning, an extra guest or a visitor, listed before you book.
• The total. Nothing from Vallo is added to it.

The price is fixed from the listing when you book, so it cannot move before you pay. A host must not ask for anything that is not listed. If one does, do not pay it, and report it.

The person paying need not be the person staying. Name the guest who will arrive, with their phone number, and that is who the host expects. Leave it blank and the booking is yours.

• Too few nights. The host has a minimum stay. The message names it.
• Too many guests. The place takes fewer people than your party.
• Dates taken. Somebody booked them first. Pick other dates.

1. The booking is confirmed and the nights are closed to anyone else.
2. The gate details appear on the listing and on your booking.
3. You get a notification and an email with the booking.
4. The host is told who is coming.

From check-in time until three hours after, your booking asks Is it as listed? Tap yes, or tap no, give a reason and add a photo taken there. A no goes to a person at Vallo.
